Owned by the New York Racing Association (State of New York), Belmont Park is a major thoroughbred horse racing park located in Elmont in the town of Hempstead in New York. The track opened its doors on May 4th, 1905 and serves as home of the World famous Belmont Stakes.

Belmont is also known as the "Test of the Champions" because almost every major champion in racing history has competed on the racecourse, including each of the 11 Triple Crown winners. In addition to the popular Belmont Stakes, other major races held at the track have included the Jockey Club Gold Cup, the Woodward Stakes, the Suburban Handicap and the Metropolitan Handicap, also known as the "Met Mile."

Along with Saratoga Race Course, Keeneland Race Course, Churchill Downs Race Track, Del Mar Fairgrounds and Santa Anita Racecourse in California, Belmont is considered one of the elite racetracks in the country.
